Fraud and security
Staying informed is the best way to keep your identity safe. Here, you’ll find resources to help you identify common scams, protect your account, confirm if a message is legitimate, and report suspicious activity.
Reporting suspicious activity
If you’ve noticed suspicious activity on your account, your Login.gov account may have been compromised. You can take immediate steps to protect your identity and account security.
Review recent activity
In Account History, you can see when someone might have signed into your Login.gov account, as well as the devices used to sign in. To access Account History:
- Sign in at Login.gov’s sign-in page.
- On the menu, navigate to “History.”
- On larger screens, the menu is on the left sidebar.
- On smaller screens or mobile devices, you may need to navigate to a button labeled “Menu” first.
- You will see a list of recently used devices and sign-ins on your account. Next to each device, you can select “Events” to see additional detail, such as how often a device was used to sign in.
If you see any device or activity that you don’t recognize:
- Immediately change your password
- Review your authentication methods to ensure they are up to date and secure
- Contact Login.gov using the contact form or phone number on our Contact us page
